Tapping into the hive mind to build awesome apps at Intuit by redesigning the dev portal.
Role: Research, Ideation, Info architecture, visual design, prototyping, user testing
The Services and Development Portal was one of the most used tools by engineers at Intuit, however, it was often referred to as “dated, hard to navigate and a blackhole.” This resulted in organizational engineering teams not widely sharing their APIs, widgets and services which reduced efficiency in the company.
As lead design on the project, I was responsible for owning the experience across the portal and moving it toward 100% self-service. Our goals were:
Redesign the development portal to improve operational efficiencies
Identify features required to get to 100% self service
Align the disconnected flows to streamline the user experience
Reduce gateway support overhead
WHILE WE USED INVISION TO PROTOTYPE THE FLOWS, WE ALSO PRINTED E2E LARGE SCALE VERSIONS SO OUR PRODUCT MANAGERS, ENGINEERS, AND STAKEHOLDERS COULD STAY IN THE LOOP AND LEAVE POST IT NOTES FOR FEEDBACK.
A developer studying the flows I created for “Preparing, Reviewing and Publishing a directory listing” in new portal.
